Troubleshooting WMI probe and Script related problems (part 3)



This part applies for Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 managed servers.




Investigation of a cause of alerts can be found in a previous part.

Most common fixes:

1. Apply KB2470949

It will fix "RegQueryValueEx function returns a very large incorrect value for the "Avg. Disk sec/Transfer" performance counter in Windows Server 2008 R2" related issues.

2. Apply KB981314

It will fix "Win32_Service" WMI class leaks memory in Windows Server 2008 R2 related issues.

3. Apply  KB958807

It will fix "Clustering WMI provider does not correctly handle invalid characters in the private property names causing WMI queries to fail" related issues in Windows Server 2008 (included in SP2)
